Neroli Essential Oil

Neroli Essential Oil is produced by steam distillation of the flowers of Citrus aurantium var. amara. It has a rich, radiant floral aroma with sweet citrus, green, and lightly bitter notes and is generally considered a middle note in aromatic formulations.

Four Primary Constituents and Typical Ranges

• Linalool: approximately 25–45%
• Limonene: approximately 10–25%
• Linalyl acetate: approximately 5–20%
• β-Pinene: approximately 3–10%

These are representative natural ranges rather than guaranteed batch values. Composition varies with plant variety or chemotype, growing region, harvest, processing, distillation, storage, and the individual production batch.

Common Uses and Aromatic Properties

This essential oil is commonly used in fine fragrance, calming diffusion, bedtime blends, facial oils, body care, and emotionally uplifting massage preparations. In aromatherapy, it is traditionally valued for calming, uplifting, balancing, skin-soothing, and emotionally comforting properties. Adult Dilution and Use

Use at 0.5–2% for topical preparations; for facial products remain near 0.5–1%, equal to 1–2 drops in 10 mL. Drop measurements are approximate because drop size varies by oil and dispenser. Begin with the lowest effective dilution and perform a patch test before broader use.

Use With Children

Generally suitable for children age 2 and older at approximately 0.25–0.5%, equal to 1 drop in 10–20 mL. Do not use essential oils routinely with children under age 2 unless directed by a pediatric healthcare professional or qualified clinical aromatherapist. Never place essential oils in or near a child's eyes, nose, mouth, ears, or hands.

Safety Precautions

Neroli is not considered phototoxic, but oxidized oil may increase skin sensitivity. Patch test before facial use and store tightly closed away from heat and light.
